Description:  Ship Loader Loading Chute – Drag Chain \ Slip Rings Brief:  This project was to replace the existing connection between the rotating loading chute and the telescopic chute on the boom of the ship loader for the electrical and communication cables. The design had to initially have a drag chain system, but had to allow for the retrofitting of a slip rings system in the future. Our involvement was to liaise with the client and operation staff, to produce a new design and then do complete detail drawings for fabrication. Consultation with operations was conducted using an interactive 3d model of the design, this allowed better understanding of the final outcome and resulted is several refinements to the initial concept. Due to requirements for sealing the system extensive use of laser cut plates and NC pressing was employed.
